Public Transportation

  • Phoenix
The Greater Phoenix area has not in the past had a great (or even good) public transit system. Our public transit system at this point is made up of busses and a dial-a-ride system.
Busses just started operating on weekends in 2000, and the express bus system will be expanded in 2001. The voters have approved funds to build a Light Rail Transit system that will travel from ChrisTown Mall through downtown Phoenix to just north of Sky Harbor Airport (connect to planned airport rail connector), to Tempe and Mesa. Operation of this new system is scheduled for 2006. In the meantime we suggest rental cars, taxis, or the use of friends you are visiting!
