Summers around Phoenix, Arizona can be so hot that locals make jokes about their cows their squirting evaporated milk, eating chiles to cool their mouths, and farmers feeding crushed ice to their chickens to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs. But another thing that is very hot are the deals that can be found on a great resort in Arizona. Beginning around mid-May, room rates at Scottsdale's five-diamond resorts melt fast.

For example, at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, rooms in the Sip, Savor & Splash package that go for $399 per night in winter cost just $179 in the summer, and that includes a $50 daily food and beverage credit. The resort offers five swimming pools, one with a pair of 200 foot long water slides and another with an ice cream and slushie bar, along with pool butlers who stand ready to fetch drinks, chilled face towels and grapes for sunbathing guests.
