Gay Community Ranks CW Network First

The CW network was ranked first for the second year in a row in a study which monitors the portrayal of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community on TV networks. This study is conducted by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance against Defamation (GLAAD).
This is the fifth such annual Network Responsibility Index and the index bases its results on the quality, quantity and diversity of the portrayals of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered communities on the primetime programming of five broadcast networks and ten major cable networks.
According to Herndon Graddick who is the senior director of programs at GLAAD, the shows like 'Pretty Little Liars' and 'Greek' which have included the lesbian, gay, and bisexual characters in their storyline are mirroring the diversity of the community among the younger generations and are reflecting the present life where many young adults are gay. The CW networks retained their number one spot while Fox network and ABC network came in second and third respectively on the index.
